When visiting Arbernnig Lodges with your dog, there are two great areas nearby that you should visit.
Only 15 minutes by car, Loggerheads Country Park is situated at the edge of the Clwydian Range, an area of outstanding natural beauty. The country park is a perfect dog friendly destination to enjoy some breath-taking views as you escape into nature.
There are three different trails at the park for you to choose from, starting with the simple small loop, that only takes about 15 minutes. The circular walk is for people who fancy a climb, but the reward is an amazing view of the Clwydian Range and Moel Famou. It’s recommended that you keep your dog on a lead near the summit, due to the sudden drop down the cliff face.
The Devils Gorge trail follows a reasonably flat forest pathway and is about 2 miles long, without any steep climbs. There is a wooden bridge that crosses over to the gorge, with two 30-metre-high limestone walls, popular with rock climbers. Its best to keep your dog on a lead at this point, as there are some old lead mines along the way that you can take a peep into if you dare. There is also a great Caffi nearby if you fancy a drink or ice cream, that allows dogs in the large outside seating area, they even serve doggy ice cream too!
Another great destination near to Loggerheads County Park, is Moel Famau. Sitting in the middle of the beautiful Clwydian range and about a 30-minute drive from Arbennig, it’s the highest summit at 554 meters. Moel Famau has many beautiful dog friendly trails to choose from, one of the favourites being the Jubilee Tower Circular Trail to the summit, which at a leisurely pace you can reach the top in an hour from the main car park. Dogs can be off the lead, but you may spot a few sheep along the way, so keep a look out if you have a playful dog!
We also have a number of dog friendly pubs near Arbennig Lodges, The Sun Inn in Eryrys, a 10-minute walk from our lodges and the Raven Inn in Llanarmon Yn Lal, about a 40 minute walk or 10 minutes by car. There are also many beautiful country lanes around Arbennig, but please follow the countryside code and make sure your dog is always on a lead.
See you soon.
