In the Footsteps of Kings

Wales has more castles per square mile than any other country in the world, many of which will be on your doorstep during your stay at Arbennig.

All that remains of some, like the medieval Denbigh Castle, are ancient ruins to be explored. However, just a short drive away you will find Ruthin Castle, dating back to the 13th Century and steeped in history. The castle, now transformed into a luxurious 4-star hotel, is a great spot for a splendid afternoon tea. Ruthin itself is a charming market town filled with winding streets, antique shops and cafes.

Spectacularly Scenic Days Out

Just 12 miles from Arbennig, the beautiful town of Llangollen is a day-tripper’s paradise. Take a steam train ride through captivating countryside along the Llangollen Railway, hire a narrowboat for the day and sail along the magnificent Pontcysyllte Aqueduct. Or for the thrill-seekers, hit the rapids whilst white-water rafting along the River Dee. The town holds a variety of festivals throughout the year, so there is always something to see and do.

Dinner With a View

Glasfryn has featured in the ‘Good Pub Guide’ every year since 2000 - and for good reason.

The extensive outdoor seating is nestled in perfectly manicured gardens with panoramic vistas of the Welsh countryside. And for winter visits, retreat inside to the warmth of a roaring log fire and a mouth-watering Sunday roast. You can find Glasfryn just 6 miles from Arbennig.

Action-packed Activities

Arbennig is perfectly placed for those seeking sporting adventures! Clay pigeon shooting, horse riding and mountain biking are just some of the activities available within a short drive of the cabins.

Coed Llandegla and the Hiraethog network of cycling routes are both highly recommended and their diverse trails cater for every rider, from beginner to professional. Forests, lakes, fresh air and excitement – all boxes are ticked!
