On March 1st all of Wales will be celebrating a day dedicated to the patron Saint of Wales.

Saint David was born in Wales in 520AD, reputedly on the cliff top Near Capel Non, on the south west coast of Wales. He grew up to be a priest and then becoming a missionary traveling throughout Wales and Britain and according to legend performed several mirracles during his life, until he died March 1st 589 AD. It’s also said that he is the person responsible for the leak being one of the national emblems of Wales and in medieval times it’s believed that he was the nephew of the legendary King Arthur. Celebrated since the 12 century, St Davids Day is a great time to visit Arbennig and enjoy this special day and some of the great events in North Wales on March 1st. As part of the celebrations the Welsh Heritage Society has announced that all castles and historical buildings will be free of charge if you register on-line before Saint David’s Day. North Wales has some magnificent castles, including Caernarfon Castle, Conwy Castle, Beaumaris Castle and Harlech Castle, all within easy reach of Arbennig. You can also visit one of the great Saint David’s Day parades around North Wales, in Wrexham or Colwyn Bay. Keeping with tradition, we’ll also leave some treats in Each of our lodges, some complimentary Welsh cakes and also Bara brith, a traditional tea flavoured bread mixed with dried fruits and spices, as well as some other Welsh produce.  Come and enjoy this special day with Arbennig and then relax in your own private hot tub as you watch the sun set across the beautiful landscape of North Wales.
