The hills are alive with the sound of music, as this July sees the return of the Llangollen Internation Musical Eisteddfod, after a two year break.
the town of Llangollen has hosted one of the world’s most inspirational cultural festivals, that attracts over 4,000 performers from around the world and up to 35,000 visitors over this 4 day event, from 7-10 July 2022. Hosted in the Llangollen international pavillion, just a short drive from our cabins at Arbennig, performers come to sing, dance and compete, creating an atmosphere of international peace and friendship. In 1955 a young Luciano Pavarotti performed in a choir from his home town of Modena and won first prize, Pavarotti then returned again for a spectacular concert in 1995.
Many great musical stars have appeared at Eisteddfod throughout the years, including Margot Fonteyn, Kiri Te Kanawa, Lesley Garrett, Katherine Jenkins, James Galway, Nigel Kennedy, Elaine Paige, Michael Ball and Montserrat Caballe to name a few. Even Placido Domingo had his first professional engagement in the United Kingdom at Eisteddfod back in 1968! This years line up of performers features the best contemporary and traditional music from around the world, including perfomances from two classical stars performing together for the first time, Aled Jones and Russell Watson. Enjoy this amazing musical event with a stay at one of our luxury boutique lodges at Arbennig, set in this recognised area of oustanding natural beauty in North Wales.
